Does insurance cover odor removal?
Odor removal is typically covered when it results from a covered event — for example, smoke odor after a fire, or odor from water damage and mold. Odors from pets, cigarettes, or cooking are generally considered maintenance issues and are not covered. Umpire works with all insurance companies and can help determine whether your situation qualifies for a claim.
How long does odor removal take?
Most odor removal jobs take 1–3 days, depending on the source and severity. Cigarette smoke that has permeated walls and carpet over years takes longer than a single cooking incident. Umpire will assess the situation and give you a realistic timeline before starting.
How is professional odor removal different from air fresheners or DIY methods?
Consumer products mask odors temporarily. Professional odor removal eliminates the source. Umpire identifies where the odor is coming from (which may be hidden in walls, ductwork, or subfloors), removes or treats the source material, and then uses commercial deodorization equipment to neutralize remaining odor molecules at the molecular level. The result is permanent elimination, not temporary covering.
What types of odors can Umpire remove?
Umpire removes odors from smoke and fire damage, pet urine, cigarette and cigar smoke, cooking odors, musty/mildew smells, skunk spray, deceased animals, and other biological sources. We use professional-grade equipment including hydroxyl generators and cold fogging (ULV fogging) — not consumer air fresheners that just mask the smell.
