Not for the faint of heart

A few tips to make summertime in Virginia feel a little cooler

Raise your hand if your AC unit is working harder than the Little Engine that Could lately?

Mine, too.

Summertime in Virginia is not for the faint of heart.

Luckily, there are a few things you can do to make sure all that Bought Air stays inside and your HVAC unit isn’t working harder than it needs to this summer:

😎 Use thermal curtains, blinds, and exterior awnings to manage how much sun (and heat!) is warming your home’s interior

😎 Use caulk to seal up any cracks and openings that are letting air in (often found around baseboards, windows, and outlets)

😎 Weatherstrip around windows and doors, and choose a type that will withstand the weather, temperature, and wear + tear of wherever you put it

Weatherization can be time consuming, but here’s the reality: when done right, it can save you up to 30% on cooling costs this time of year (plus help you avoid expensive water damage or mold damage repairs that could result from an overworked HVAC).

What’s on your weatherization list right now?

Stay cool,

Stephen
