3 signs it’s time to call a water damage expert

Catch small leaks before they turn into big repairs.

So we all know to call a water damage restoration company when a pipe in the kitchen bursts or a toilet overflows.

But what about those sneaky, insidious water leaks?

🚫 I’m not talking about floods.

🚫 I’m not talking about overflowing toilets.

👀 I’m talking about little leaks that seem little but cause BIG damage.

The ones that, when you finally discover them, have already wreaked havoc on your house.

Those are the ones that are easy to miss.

To help make sure you don’t, I’ve rounded up the most common early signs folks miss that lead to big problems.

Let’s get into it.

1. Water leaking under the dishwasher

🚫 Myth: Water leaks under the dishwasher are small and nothing to worry about.

✅ Fact: If you see water pooling under the dishwasher, there is probably also water traveling behind your kitchen cabinets and/or under the kitchen floor. And when water spreads and sits, you’ll likely have to remove the flooring and cabinets.

➡️ What to do: Don’t assume a water leak under the dishwasher is small. The sooner you call us, the better chance you have of addressing the leak before you have to rip out all of your cabinets and strip your kitchen floor.

2. Small amount of standing water or water stains under the kitchen sink

🚫 Myth: Dripping under the sink is no big deal.

✅ Fact: This will affect your entire cabinet - which you’ll have to remove when the water sits for long periods of time. From a rebuild standpoint, if the cabinets are older and can’t be matched, then all of the cabinets may have to be replaced so they match. Yikes.

➡️ What to do: If you notice water spots under your sink, reach out to us. If we fix and dry the area when you first notice it, we can typically save the cabinet (which will save you a lot of heartache).

3. Small water stains on the bottom of drywall in finished basement corners

🚫 Myth: It’s rainy season! Probably just a small leak from the weather.

✅ Fact: This is usually a sign that there is a foundation moisture issue. If fixed early, the cost on this tends to be minimal. But when the water sits, the moisture spreads behind the drywall causing mold to grow. This will increase the amount of drywall removal needed, making the repairs much more expensive.

➡️ What to do: You guessed it - give us a call. Even if you’re not sure, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. We’ll answer any questions you have and provide a free estimate before any work begins.

Here’s the short of it, Reader: don’t assume small water spots = small problems.

It’s always better for your home, your wallet, and your peace of mind to catch things early.

If you’re ever not sure, call or text us to talk things through. We’re always here for you.

Hit reply with any questions -

Stephen
